PotCoin (Ᵽ) was the very first industry specific cryptocurrency developed to empower the legalized cannabis industry.
PotCoin is a community based project, operating as a decentralized organization where community members determine their level of involvement, commitment and ultimately coin development. PotCoin was created in 2014 by Joel Yaffe of Montreal.
PotCoins are transferred directly from person to person via the net, without going through a bank or clearing house. This means that the fees are much lower, you can use them in every country and your account cannot be frozen. Sending PotCoin is as easy as sending an e-mail and you can buy anything with PotCoins.
Potcoins are stored in a number of ways most commonly kept in a digital wallet on your computer, a server, or mobile device. The Potcoin network is secured and verified by thousands of computers using state of the art encryption. Anyone can join the Potcoin network and the software is open source so anyone can review the code.
To empower, secure and facilitate the legal cannabis community’s transactions by creating a unique crypto currency for this thriving industry. To remove the need for cash transactions and encourage buying through consumer incentives. To be the banking system and infrastructure this industry so desperately needs. To be the digital currency that allows cannabis enthusiasts to interact, transact, communicate and grow together.
PotCoin is a community run effort, by community members for community members. PotCoin does not endorse, guarantee or warrant any actions performed by you, users, exchanges or any other organization.
Since PotCoin's release in 2014, much has happened to contribute to the growth of this coin. Certain milestones set out by the community have been met and others are in progress. As we work hard on expanding the reach and adoption of PotCoin, many more milestones will be added to the Roadmap.
